This is one of my favorite and most revealing questions of all time, that and the brother question of “Why does “God” want us to be afraid all the time”. Of course the government and media and all sorts of people want us to be afraid, disempowered sheeple for a whole host of reasons, but that’s another post or five.

Now what first got me thinking about this all those long years ago, was the related question of why various religions (Christianity (in the form of Catholicism & “Paul of Tarsus), various other Abrahamic faith off-shoots and a whole bunch of other religions and spiritual systems (even Yoga) want us to “foster our horniness” by being “chaste”.

Well a typical post modernistic reply would be in the form of meme theory, and i don’t dispute that memes are part of the answer. The gist of the meme explanation for this, is that the little “viruses of the mind” want us to remain preoccupied with them (in the form of religion and spirituality) and not to be out chasing girls/guys and otherwise living life.

It can even be stated that “memes” may have co-evolved with humans to such an extent, that these “memes” have rather “terraformed” our brains and given survival advantages to those humans who carry memes and spread memes well; that’s why we humans spend all this time talking about “Ancient Aliens” and what not, (viruses of the mind), while our world is rapidly dying due to global warming, fracking, pollution, strip-mining, oxygen deprivation, ocean acidification and all the other things leading to the sixth great mass extinction, the so-called Anthropocene

This meme theory by itself would make a wonderful theory all on it’s own.. but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. And…also I will admit, that a lot of scientists turn their noses up at “meme theory”, because they say that there is no actual “unit of inheritance” so the theory has to be wrong. And they have a point of logic there. Of course the people who say that haven’t researched it all the way in my opinion; but that’s for another post. We are focusing on why religion and spirituality (and now the Internet, etc) wants to keep us all horny all of the time.

In the past, we didn’t have that great porn delivery network called the Internet, so human beings either were or were not horny naturally, unless some other control system was in place.

So is religion and spirituality a control system? Do I really need to answer that question? I suppose I do for  those who are captured by one of those systems, and unfortunately no amount of proof may dislodge the false convictions as regards those, but over the years I will try.

There is no way to make one hornier, than to say that you shouldn’t be horny; people are contrary by nature. Now in the Eastern and more Tantra-like traditions, the concept is that “Urdhva-Retas” (reference here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yogini) is whats powers holiness and “psychic powers” and that to accomplish that, you must be a Brahmacharya. In the Kundalini Yoga traditions it goes further; the goal is to train the “refined essence” to nourish the Brahma-Rendra (cave of Brahma) in the brain.

So this starts to get us somewhere.. the reason that we are supposed to be chaste, in some of the Eastern Traditions anyway, is so that our “sex drive” gets diverted to a special area of our brain.

Now lets look at one part of this closely. Now of course when discussing spirituality and especially Yoga, there will be all this talk of prana, a “mystical energy” which pervades all of reality in one form or another. Now I’m not going to speculate about this “energy” either for our against. It’s besides the point actually whether it exists or not. Prana is just a name for something that is either misunderstood (there is no “supernatural” just misunderstood physics”) or does not exist. And for the purposes of this post/essay does not matter in the least.

What does matter, is the hormone testosterone, which is important and present in both men and women. The main thing to keep in mind about testosterone for purposes of this discussion, is that it is a cholesterol based hormone, which means it will cross the blood/brain barrier.

The hornier we get, and the more chase we are (we don’t eject it), the more testosterone will wash our brain cells.

Now I’m going to be a tease here for the moment, and not fully discuss the information I have available, but let’s say for purposes of argument, that some life form or “energy” could attach to certain small molecules, and lets say that this life form or “energy” wanted to access the human brain.

Getting people horny all the time (or perpetually scared by means of cortisol, another cholesterol-based hormone) would be a free “ticket” to the brain).

As a matter of fact, from the perspective of “Kundalini Yoga” the great secrets of which are sold to us as a miracle that will make us into “gods”, there are various practices to make the nervous system, hormonal systems and other systems align, so that there is an expressway constructed to get “something” to the brain.

Now some of you will jump to conclusions about good and evil and demons and all that crazy nonsense. But the “Symbiotic Plasma Hypothesis” which is a major goal of this blog, has different things to say about all this sort of thing.

Now moderns don’t tend to have the time and patience to spend decades “raising their Kundalini” and other such practices like in previous generations. So Internet pornography and a perpetual state of fear will have to do for a more impatient age of humans.

More to come.
